With the Boulder Mountains looking a little snow tipped, there's no doubt summer is over and winter is on its way. Aiding local powderhounds' growing urge to hit the slopes, MSP Films will present its latest ski movie, "In Deep," at the Sun Valley Opera House on Thursday, Oct. 8, at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 and are available at the door.

The screening will include opportunities for attendees to win gear, a free heliski trip to Alaska and a Saucerboy costume contest. Saucerboy refers to MSP Film's athlete Shane McConkey. McConkey died in a BASE jumping accident in Italy during the filming of "In Deep." The film includes a special tribute to McConkey and the filmmakers have created a Saucerboy contest in his honor.

"Saucerboy was Shane's alter ego for the last 12 years," said MSP Films Director of Business Operations Michael Hans. "It's kind of funny and fitting to play tribute to Shane's sense of humor."

"In Deep" includes extreme skiing footage from Haines, Alaska, from Colorado and from a variety of peaks around the world. Hans said there were as many as four trips happening at once with as many as 25 athletes per shoot during the production of the film.

"We have been going to Haines, Alaska, consistently for the last seven years," Hans said. "February was a unique time to be there because the days were short and there were only six-hour windows to film, but the angle of the sun allowed for amazing light with pink, orange and purple hues."

Expect to see some of the best skiers in the world and enjoy a taste of winter.
