In an unusual but important evening of theater, Company of Fools will do a play reading of "The Laramie Project: 10 Years Later." The reading will coincide with a national and international premiere of the play with over 100 theaters worldwide on Monday, Oct. 12.

The reading will take place at 6 p.m. at the Liberty Theatre in Hailey. The event will include online community access by which participants can blog and upload video and photos as well as share their own stories about the play. The event is the brainchild of the Tectonic Theater Project in New York City.

"It is a one-time event," said Company of Fools core company artist Denise Simone. "We did 'The Laramie Project' production in 2003. The Tectonic Theater Project went back to see what is going on 10 years later."

"The Laramie Project: 10 Years Later" is an epilogue to the original production and presents questions about how the story has changed and how a community has changed since the torture and murder of Matthew Shepard.

The play reading will be done in real time with a live Web cast from Alice Tully Hall hosted by Glenn Close. Actors from an HBO special, "The Laramie Project," will also be on hand for discussion. The audience a the Liberty Theatre will be able to Twitter back to Hall with questions and comments about the play reading.

"How do we measure a community that experienced so much media coverage?" Simone asked. "We hope the same audience who attended the play in 2003 will return for the play reading."

Tickets will be $15. After Company of Fools has covered all its expenses, proceeds will be donated to the Matthew Shepard Foundation. For details, call 578-9122.
