The Community School Parents' Association has been hard at work getting the Sagewillow Barn in Elkhorn ready for a weekend of sales and deals. The Community School Barn Sale is an annual fundraising event that takes place Saturday, Oct. 3, and Sunday, Oct. 4. The sale helps keep the cost of school-related activities affordable, and the event raised over $77,000 last year.

"It is such a great cause," said Kelly Allison, event co-chairwoman. "It's one of those things everyone can be a part of, and it's a tradition."

This year one of the more interesting items on sale is a new hot tub. Many of the larger items are part of a silent auction that will include several high-end specialty items. In addition, on Saturday after 2 p.m., prices will be slashed in selected departments, including furniture, sports equipment, toys, books, electronics, tools, kitchen items and clothing.

Sales will continue on Sunday with a $5 blue bag fill-up and a $10 blue bag fill-up in the adult and children's clothing boutique.

"I am really excited about the adult boutique," Allison said. "It's amazing and looks like an exclusive boutique you would find in a major city."

The barn sale is a school event that brings together teachers, parents and students, and is fun for the school and the community. People looking for specific items should arrive early because items go fast.
