Yoga series encourages discovery

The Hailey Yoga Center in Alturas Plaza is offering a four-week comprehensive introduction to yoga, taught by Pilar Tumolo. The class will meet Sundays from 4:30-6 p.m. beginning Sept. 13 and ending Oct. 4. The class will teach basic yoga poses, good alignment for the entire body, simple breathing techniques and deep relaxation. The series is $50.

Galena Lodge closes for summer

The annual Boulder Mountain Bike Tour celebrates the last day of the summer season at Galena Lodge. The tour will take place Sunday, Sept. 13, starting at Atkinsons' Market in Ketchum at 10 a.m. for road bikes and at 9 a.m. at the SNRA parking lot for mountain bikes. The lodge will offer a discounted lunch buffet and celebration cocktail. The lodge will reopen the weekend before Thanksgiving.

Caritas Chorale benefit at Cove Ranch

The Caritas Chorale benefit dinner, "It's a Grand Night for Singing," and fundraising event will take place at the Cove Ranch on Gannet Road in Bellevue on Sunday, Sept. 13. The event includes the opportunity to bring your own horse at 12 p.m. followed by lawn games at 3:30 p.m. and a wine reception at 5 p.m. Caritas Chorale will perform during dinner, which begins at 6 p.m. The benefit is $150 per person.

Film festival celebrates human spirit

The fifth annual Sun Valley Spiritual Film Festival will take place in the Sun Valley Opera House on Friday, Sept. 18, through Sunday, Sept. 20. An opening gala celebration will take place on Thursday, Sept. 17, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Friesen Gallery in Ketchum. Tickets are $15 and free for festival pass holders. The festival will feature guests Stephen Simon, Ralph Bronner, Jim Walsh, Peter Shiao, Stephen Kiesling, Matt Flickstein and several filmmakers presenting films. Purchase passes at Chapter One Bookstore in Ketchum or online at svspiritualfilmfestival.tix.org.

Idaho Basecamp Feastival debuts

The first Idaho Basecamp Feastival will take place Friday, Sept. 18, through Sunday, Sept. 20, on the Lost River, 28 miles northeast of Sun Valley over Trail Creek Summit. Basecamp is located just past Bady Creek. Weekend festivities include live music, yoga, workshops, fishing, camping, bonfires and two sit-down dinners. Check-in starts at 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 18. Tickets are $20 for one night and $30 for two nights.

Theater presents artist-in-residence

New York City-based writer and musician Jeffery Ernstoff will perform "Gershwin: The Music and the Stories Behind It," on Tuesday, Sept. 22, and Wednesday, Sept. 23, at 7 p.m. at the nexStage Theatre in Ketchum. Tickets are $20. In addition, Ernstoff will perform "Exactly One Hour With an Unstable American Musician" on Thursday, Sept. 24, through Saturday, Sept. 26. Tickets are $25 and $40 for reserved seating. Ernstoff will conduct workshops at Wood River Valley schools.

Needlepoint retreat to feature Kaffe Fassett

London-based Kaffee Fassett and colleague Brandon Mably will teach needlepoint, knitting and painting at the Sun Valley Inn and the Sun Valley Center for the Arts during a weeklong stay in Ketchum beginning Monday, Sept. 27. Fassett is an internationally known designer and author, and will be a guest instructor for Isabel's Needlepoint's annual retreat.
