The second annual LiveStrong Day in Ketchum supports those battling cancer, raises money and most of all promotes having fun riding bikes. This year's event will take place on Saturday, Sept. 12, and will begin at 1 p.m. at Ketchum's Forest Service Park.

Road bikers can meet at the park for a ride to the Sawtooth National Recreation Area headquarters and back to the park. In addition, cruiser races will take place at 3 p.m. Sign-up for the races will begin at 2:30 p.m. Participants in the cruiser bike races may ride around the Forest Service Park in any costume and on any type of bike.

The criterium races will have a group race of 6 and under, 7 and up and two adult races. Adult races will be divided into a fun race and "elite" race. After the ride and criteriums, food and beer as well as live music by No Cheap Horses will be available at the park beginning at 4 p.m.

A raffle drawing for an Electra Cruiser, kid's mountain bike and more will take place at the park. Raffle tickets are $5 for 1 and $20 for 5. A donation of $20 for adults, $5 for kids and $50 for families is suggested to take part in LiveStrong Day in Ketchum.

All proceeds from LiveStrong Day in Ketchum will go directly to the LiveStrong Lance Armstrong Foundation, which supports those battling cancer. LiveStrong Day in Ketchum founder Kristine Bretall said she decided to do the event for a second year because the battle with cancer continues.

"It seems like every day someone else locally is diagnosed," she said. "We are all touched by this terrible disease. Supporting those who have cancer and making sure that we have money for research is vital. The Lance Armstrong Foundation continues this fight."
