Carey spikers split in Tuesday tri-meet

Sweep Vikings, fall to Pirates

The Carey School varsity volleyball team split its Tuesday night triangular meet in Carey—beating the Valley Vikings 25-12, 25-14 and falling to the Butte County Pirates from Arco 25-20, 28-26.

Carey coach Kathy Whitworth said, "Overall, they were our two best matches of the season—defense, passing and everything about the game. Butte County is a tough team and we played well."

Sophomore Micaela Adamson attacked the net and played very well against the rebuilding Valley team, Whitworth said. Senior Amy Ellsworth contributed timely serving and senior Jenni Murphy contributed in all facets of the game.

The Panthers (3-3, 1-2 Northside Conference) will seek to square their league record Tuesday, Sept. 15 when they host coach Reamy Goodwin's Community School Cutthroats (2-2, 1-2 league). The Cutthroats fell at home to Richfield 25-10, 25-15, 24-26, 25-16 Tuesday.
