It's tough to get world champion mountain bikers and volunteer firefighters Rebecca Rusch and Greg Martin to sit still for a minute—but the Wood River Valley has a great chance to pin them down for a few hours and laughs tonight.
Rusch and Martin, in fact, are throwing their own "World Championship Party," and cycling appreciation festival for the community today, Friday at 6 p.m. at Apple's Bar & Grill, Warm Springs, Ketchum.
Not surprisingly, bike commuting is encouraged. Cost is $15 for all-you-can-eat tacos and refreshments. Live music is planned. So is a slide show to show where they've been.
Ketchum volunteer firefighters Rusch, 40, and Martin, 37, are celebrating big achievements at the 24 Hours of Adrenaline World Championships July 25 at Canmore, Alberta in Canada.
Rusch, nicknamed "Reba," won her third consecutive Elite Women's title by completing 18 laps of the 10-mile circuit over the course of a single day (and night). Martin (19 laps) won his second straight Men's Singlespeed crown and was fifth overall despite using one gear.
