Rollover injures 2

A rollover crash north of Galena Summit on Friday afternoon sent two victims to the hospital.

Blaine County Sheriff's Lt. Jay Davis said a green 1999 Chevy Malibu, driven by K.C. Hepworth, 21, of Jerome, with passenger Amanda Egan, 18, also of Jerome, was northbound on state Highway 75. Witnesses traveling about 300 feet behind the Malibu reported that the car swerved to the right, then the driver overcorrected to the left and hit an embankment, which flipped the vehicle through a fence and onto its roof.

When the witnesses, one of whom was a paramedic on vacation from New Mexico, got to the site of the crash they found Egan out of the vehicle, but Hepworth was pinned up to his waist by the car's hood. The rescuers were able to free Hepworth and begin treatment.

Davis said both victims were transported by helicopter to a hospital in Boise.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, he said.
