The band Wisebird formed in the West but now the group makes its home in Austin, Texas. The musicians moved to Austin a year ago but miss their friends and following in Idaho.

"We played Whiskey Jacques' before it burned down and have not been back since," said keyboardist Trevor Nealon. "We love the Rocky Mountain circuit and miss the friends and fans we have gotten to know year after year."

Wisebird plays in all types of venues, from bars to big music festivals, has released one album and is working on recording its second. The band's main influences are mostly from the '60s and '70s.

"We are influenced by everything from that time period, from our gear and style to our arrangements, which give us that classic sound," Nealon said. "We are often compared to The Band, the Allman Brothers, Little Feat and early sounds of the Black Crowes."

Along with Nealon, drummer Dave Meservy, guitarist Will Webster and bassist Joe Beckham all collaborate on lyrics.

The band members say their move to Austin has been a great experience for them.

"It is the music capital, and it has been an amazing for us on many different levels," Nealon said. "World-class musicians perform every night in Austin, and you have to have you're 'A' game on. It's both inspiring and humbling."

Wisebird will play the Sun Valley Brewery in Hailey this evening at 8 p.m. There is a $5 cover charge for the show.
