Anthony Frank Elfering


Anthony Frank Elfering, 45, of Bellevue passed away Monday, Aug. 24, 2009, in a dirt-bike accident in Muldoon Canyon. Tony was born April 14, 1964, in Encino, Calif., to George and Elsie Elfering. He attended Phelan Elementary and graduated from Serrano High School in Phelan, Calif.

Tony married Brenda in 1989 and they raised two sons, Aaron and James, in Phelan until they moved to Bellevue, Idaho, in 1999, seeking a better environment in which to raise their family, and a world of recreation that they all so loved.

Tony was an active member of the Bellevue community. He participated in the organization of many community parades and park events. He was also a volunteer fireman for the Bellevue Fire Department for many years. He worked as a wastewater technician/circuit rider for Idaho Rural Water Association. Prior to moving to Idaho he worked at Ameron International as a warehouse manager for 14 years.

Tony's hobbies were numerous. Some of his favorites were skateboarding, hunting, fishing, motorcycle riding, snowboarding, skiing and camping with friends. He was an avid collector of Hot Wheels.

Tony was a well respected citizen of the Wood River Valley. His smile and laughter will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his two sons, Aaron Elfering of Boise, Idaho, and James Elfering of Bellevue; his former wife of 18 years, Brenda Elfering of Bellevue; his mother, Elsie Elfering of Phelan, Calif., one brother, George Elfering, of Sacramento, Calif.; three sisters, Theresa (Chris) Frymire of Phelan, Calif., Sue (Steve) Hamilton of Pinon Hills, Calif., and Lori (Brian) Crain of Hayden Lake, Idaho; a nephew who was like a son to Tony, Michael Stidom of Salt Lake City, Utah; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Tony was preceded in death by his father, George J. Elfering.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 31, at St. Charles Catholic Church in Hailey, Idaho. A gathering to celebrate Tony's life will be held following the services at St. Charles Parish Hall.

The family has requested to please make any donations to the Elfering Education Memorial Fund at the Mountain West Bank, 206 N. Main St., Hailey, ID 83333.
