Bear Enjoys Impromptu Picnic

Valley visitor Teddy Cooper, 10, of Massachusetts, shot this photo of a black bear relaxing in Gimlet subdivision south of Ketchum on Monday, Aug. 10, after he saw the bear crossing Gimlet Road near the Big Wood River. According to Teddy’s older brother, Charles, Teddy “watched the bear topple over a trash bin and forage through the rotting food. The bear left a trail of trash behind as it headed for some grass to sit on while enjoying its lunch.” Bear sightings in the valley have increased in recent days.
