Doug White

Doug White, born Oct. 10, 1961, left this world on Aug. 13, 2009, to venture into another. Doug stayed grounded to the earth we walk on and in tune to the natural rhythms of nature. He set his own pace in life, never too slow nor too fast, to the beat of his own drum, walking one with the earth.

Doug will be remembered in this valley for many things: our favorite bartender, one of the best and original fly-fishing guides, someone with a passion for the great outdoors and all its many wonders, and an advocate for the protection of land and nature. His spare time was spent with his closest friends and his dog, relishing the magic of the mountains.

Doug left Ketchum, Idaho, several years ago to go out and discover other lands, from the waters of the Pacific Northwest to the mountains and rivers of Oregon. Doug was a man of great consciousness of what was right and wrong, and his decisions in life always mirrored where the truth lay. His final destination in life was as it should be, to the land of his youth and close to his family in Pennsylvania, with great credit given to help watch over his mother in her time of need.

Doug leaves behind his mother, Margaret Bennett; his father, Richard White; his sister, Cynde Nolan; his brother-in-law, Pat Nolan; and his best friend and dog, Griz. Doug leaves us his spirit, soul and lessons of life.

Cards and condolences can be sent to: Cynde Nolan and Margaret Bennett, 22705 Jefferson Blvd., Smithsburg, MD 21783.

Doug, you will sincerely be missed.
