A police task force alleges that a youth group identified as the West Ketchum Gang is responsible for a recent rash of graffiti in the Wood River Valley.

A news release issued Monday by the Sun Valley Police Department alleges that the gang committed acts of graffiti vandalism in Ketchum, Sun Valley and possibly Hailey. The news release states that police departments of the three cities have organized the task force to "identify and prosecute the people responsible for the graffiti and recover the cost of the clean-up."

Sun Valley Assistant Police Chief Mike Crawford reported that the task force identified members of the group from a Facebook Web site entry. Crawford stated that the West Ketchum Gang information has since been removed from Facebook.

The news release states that the group has an "unorganized gang structure" and is comprised of "approximately 40 local teens" from Ketchum, Sun Valley, Hailey and Bellevue.

Some graffiti found in Ketchum and Sun Valley included the initials "WKG."
