Ketchum planning officials will be busy this fall sorting through three hotel development projects.
Community and Economic Development Director Lisa Horowitz announced in a press release that the next few months will feature meetings on Sun Valley Resort's River Run annexation request, the Warm Springs Ranch Resort design review and a development application for the Bald Mountain Lodge.
"I am pleased to see these hospitality projects move forward and believe they are essential for the long-term health of our community and our local economy," Ketchum Mayor Randy Hall said in the release.
The Planning and Zoning Commission will hold a pre-application design review on the Warm Springs Ranch Resort on Monday, Sept. 14.
The planned-unit development application and annexation request for the project were approved by the City Council in February. The design review process will flesh out details of the 77-acre resort, which will include a five-star hotel with a minimum of 120 rooms, a nine-hole golf course, spa, event house, villas, estate lots and workforce housing for 93 employees.
Last week, Sun Valley Co. submitted its proposal for the annexation and development of a 140-acre piece of property at the River Run base of Bald Mountain. If approved, the project would include a luxury hotel with up to 200 rooms, a spa, conference space, restaurants, retail, an "ecological park" and up to 650 residential units.
The P&Z is slated to hold a meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 30, to determine if any more information not included in the application is needed for the decision process. This meeting will be followed by a series of public hearings on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, Oct. 27-29.
The design review and planned-unit development applications for the proposed Bald Mountain Lodge have yet to be scheduled, but the applicant has stated an intention to submit plans by mid-September.
Seattle-area developer Steve Burnstead's project would include a five-story luxury hotel on the west side of Main Street between First and River streets. It would be operated by Rock Resorts, a subsidiary of Vail Resorts, and designed by Seattle-based architecture firm Callison.
The project would include 82 high-end hotel rooms, 26 residential units on the top two floors, about 8,000 square feet of retail space on the ground floor, a restaurant, bar and spa. There would be two levels of underground parking.
During the first week of September, the P&Z will hold a special meeting to "virtually visit" the base areas of other Western ski resorts.
