Speed limit is too slow

The county has vastly improved the East Fork Road. It has new bike lanes, nice shoulders and is smooth. It just begs to be driven fast. Not a good idea, as the county has said they will vigorously enforce the speed limit of 25 miles per hour.

This new speed limit has created a dangerous situation. The road is the same size as Gannet Road (that has 21 driveways and no bike lanes) which has a speed limit of 55 mph. The Twin Falls highway to the airport is a similar size with a speed limit of 50 mph. Both Buttercup and Croy (with no bike lanes or improvements) are 35 mph. It is counter-intuitive to expect drivers to now drive slower on such an excellent road.

What is happening on East Fork is frustrated drivers are passing. This is a very dangerous situation. And it is common.

The county has increased enforcement but this will only create a bunch of angry residents and tourist who will be slapped with speeding tickets. The county can't patrol full time, and there are better ways to raise county revenue than issuing citations.

It makes more sense to return the speed limit to 35 mph. Call the County Commissioners and the sheriff to request the change.
