Frank Rumer Jeffrey Jr.


Frank Rumer Jeffrey Jr., 88, died Aug. 8, 2009, at his home in Hailey, Idaho. Born in Kennewick, Wash., the son of Frank Rumer and Ray Rose Jeffrey, Frank was a graduate of Lakeside Preparatory School and received a B.A. from Yale University in 1942.

Frank served in the U.S. Army as a second lieutentant in Medical Administration, serving in Adak, Alaska, and later in the Korean Conflict.

On June 15, 1946, he married Helen Lloyd-Jones of Mason City, Iowa. They raised their four children in Mason City and were deeply involved in many civic and business aspects of both Mason City and the state. Frank was the owner of several Culligan Water Conditioning franchises in Iowa.

In 1982 he sold his businesses and retired to Sanibel, Fla., with his wife. There, he continued his love of sailing and was active in the area Habitat for Humanity and the Ding Darling Bird Sanctuary. In 2007 the couple moved to Hailey to live near their two youngest children.

Frank is survived by his wife, Helen (Kin); four children, Lleni (Peter) Carr of Aptos, Calif., Frank Jeffrey III (Cyndie) of Ames, Iowa, Elizabeth Jeffrey (Rob Lonning) of Hailey and Buncy Jeffrey (Stew) of Ketchum, Idaho; and five grandchildren, Evan Jeffrey, Ryan Jeffrey, Lisa Jeffrey Peterson, Sean Carr and Caitlin Lonning.

Any memorial contributions are suggested to the Blaine County Senior Center, Box 28, Hailey, ID 83333 or the Hospice of the Wood River Valley, Box 4320, Ketchum, ID 83340.

A family memorial is planned for next summer in Wisconsin. Cremation was under the care of Wood River Chapel (www.woodriverchapel.com).
