A Sun Valley man missed competing in Saturday's road rally north of Ketchum after he crashed his Ford GT40 earlier that day.

Instead of running in the Sun Valley Road Rally, 66-year-old Robert Disbrow ran off Elkhorn Road near its intersection with Highlands Drive. The accident happened shortly before 7:30 a.m.

"The driver said he was swerving to avoid a fox on the road and he lost control, slid across the road and the bike path and into some bushes and trees," said Sun Valley Assistant Police Chief Mike Crawford.

Disbrow wasn't injured, but his 2006 GT40 received an estimated $10,000 in damage.

Crawford said Disbrow reported that the car, prior to the accident, was valued at $178,000.

The car is a limited-edition remake of the Ford GT40s, which had a four-year winning streak in the late 1960s at the 24 Hours of Le Mans road races in France.
