Kit Neraas

Longtime Northern Rockies Folk Festival Director Kit Neraas passed away in Boise Friday, July 31, after a brief illness. Kit was well known in music circles throughout Idaho, as well as the Wood River Valley. Kit had served as the Northern Rockies Folk Festival director for 25 years and had been involved with the festival for 31 years.

Folk Festival Board President Pete Kramer commented that "... the entire NRFF board of directors found it uniquely ironic that Kit should pass away on the first day of the folk festival. While we will miss him greatly, it does feel appropriate and fitting that we were able to honor his memory and contribution to our community at this year's Northern Rockies Folk Festival."

Kit's longtime companion, Lisa Whitaker, and his brother John were by his side at the time of his passing. Kit was 56.

More details regarding Kit's life will be available in a forthcoming obituary.
