LOSER BRACKET GAMES

Firefighters 12, Elevate/Stafftopia 6

Ed Binnie's two-out, RBI triple ignited a 6-run, 8-hit Firefighters second inning and leadoff hitter Tyler Corrock (4 hits, 3 doubles, 3 runs) kept applying the pressure ahead of #3-hitter Keith Potter (4 hits, 2 doubles, triple, 2 runs, 3 RBI). Firefighters: Michele Erdie, Karly Maratea and Kelly McGarry 2 hits apiece. Elevate/Stafftopia: 2 hits apiece for Greg Brown, Neil Schroeder, Jeff Rust, Cooper Minnis and Liz Coughlin.

Principal Recruiting/Group Six 28, Magpie's 11 (6 innings)

Leadoff hitter Geoff Gardner enjoyed a tournament-best 6-for-6 (3 doubles) with 5 runs scored and 5 RBI for the winners. Principal: Rod Watson 4 hits (double) and 2 runs, Kellee Havens 3 hits and 3 runs, Kevin Garceau 4 hits, 4 runs and 4 RBI, Sharon Payne 3 hits and 2 runs, Chad Pringle 3 hits (2 doubles), 2 runs and 5 RBI, Karen Morrison 2 runs, Julie Swenke 2 hits and 2 runs, Jim Carlsen 2 hits (double) and 2 runs. Casino 21, Firefighters 3 (5 innings)

Casino (24 hits) doused the Firefighters with an 8-run, 9-hit first and kept plugging away with runs until the 15-run rule was invoked in the fifth inning. Casino: Nic Nottingham 4-for-4 (2 triples, HR, 4 runs), Wade Port 3 hits (double) and 2 runs, Sara Torres 2 hits (double), Gretchen Wagner 2 hits and 2 runs, Lisa Valdama 2 hits (double) and 2 runs, Sarah Parker 2 hits, Craig Morse 2 hits and 2 runs, Brenda Blackwell 2 hits (double) and 2 runs. Firefighters: Neil Schroeder 2 hits and 2 runs, Becky Simpson 2 hits.

Casino 7, Principal Recruiting/Group Six 6

Trailing 4-2 after five frames, Casino came alive with 5 runs on 4 hits in the fifth as Matt Kendrick tripled home Sara Torres (2 runs) and Nic Nottingham (3 hits) cracked a 3-run HR. Principal made it close with single runs in the sixth and seventh but couldn't get the equalizer and finished a fine 2-2 tournament—after not winning a game in the city meet last August. Casino: Lisa Valdama 2 hits. Principal: Geoff Gardner 2 hits (double), Sue Mulcahy 2 hits, Rod Watson 3 hits, Sharon Payne and Jim Carlsen 2 hits apiece.

Lefty's Bar & Grill 12, Casino 11

It was anybody's game in the fight for a championship game berth. Lefty's led 6-4 after five innings and 6-5 in the sixth, but Lefty's exploded for 6 runs on 5 hits and a slew of Casino miscues in the home sixth. An RBI double by Buffalo Rixon (2 hits, 2 runs) and RBI triple by Dave Hausmann (3 hits, 2 runs) were the big blows. Behind 12-5 with only three outs left in their season, Casino players put together a fighting rally with 6 runs on 8 hits. Matt Kendrick (2 hits, 2 runs) cleared the bases with an RBI triple after singles by Gretchen Wagner, Jill Morse, Dave Penn (3 hits, double, 2 runs) and Sara Torres, then Austin Bristow (2 hits, double) and Sarah Parker singled to put the tying run in scoring position. But Lefty's flagged down a long fly ball by Nic Nottingham to end the game. Lefty's: Anthony Anderson 2 hits (triple), Bryan Speth 2 hits (triple) and 2 runs, Chris Warrington 2 runs, Levie Smith 2 hits. Casino: Nic Nottingham 3 hits (HR, double) and 2 runs, Gretchen Wagner 2 hits.

CHAMPIONSHIP GAME

Color Haus 18, Lefty's Bar & Grill 3

It was all over pretty early as Color Haus second baseman Jeff Schroeder belted a 2-run HR in his team's 6-run, 7-hit first and added a 2-run single in Haus' 3-run second for a 9-0 lead. Color Haus turned two double plays through Schroeder and center fielder John Rathfon made a diving catch off of Chris Warrington's wicked liner in the third. All 11 Color Haus players hit safely in the 22-hit onslaught, led by Bryan Burrell (3 hits, double, 4 runs) and Josh Jacobson (3 hits, 4 runs, 4 RBI). Also delivering was Jeff Burrell (4 hits, double, 3 RBI). Lefty's players with 2 hits each were Buffalo Rixon, Dave Hausmann and Bryan Speth.
