The finishing touches are expected to be in place by the end of next week on a reconstruction project on East Fork Road in the mid-valley.

"They should finish up paving this week and finish painting by the end of next week," said Nathan Jerke, a spokesman for the Idaho Department of Transportation.

The project involved construction of a new roadbed, laying of new pavement and installation of new bike paths on a one-mile stretch of East Fork Road from the Big Wood River Bridge east to Ranch Lane. Traffic lanes have been widened to 11 feet each and 5-foot wide bike paths have been constructed on both sides of the roadway.

Later this fall, Idaho Sand and Gravel of Jerome, the prime contractor, will seed the right-of-way with grasses and plant native vegetation.

Idaho Sand and Gravel held a final public briefing on the project Thursday at the Greenhorn Fire Station.

The $900,000 project was federally funded with money administered by ITD.
