The heavy hitting of Justin Herald (4 hits, 2 doubles, HR, 3 runs) and Kenny Nelson (4 hits, 3 doubles, HR, 4 runs) led Wise Guy. Peterson: Tom Anderson 3 hits (2 HR), Mark Mary triple, double and 3 runs, Lacey Peterson 2 hits and 3 runs, Jim Carlson 2 hits (2-run HR).

Hailey Hotel 20, Infininaut 5 (5 innings)

Hotel enjoyed 6-run, 5-run and 5-run innings led by Brad Dredge triple, double and 3 runs, Riley O'Grady 3 runs, Kellen Chatterton double and HR and JonMarie Shaw 3 runs. Infininaut: K-Dog 2 hits.

Wicked Spud/Bradley Const. 14, Smith Optics/Poggi Bros. Electric 4

Spud led 7-4 after three frames but broke it open by outscoring Smith 7-0 in the final four stanzas. Spud: Anrthony Rooney 3 hits (double) and 3 runs, Dani Stone 3 hits (double), Jamie Stone 2 hits and 2 runs, Morgan Uhrig 2 doubles and 2 runs, Jeff Burrell 2 hits (HR). Smith Optics: LeighAndra Roberts 3 hits (double), Ryan Wilson 2 runs.

LDE Electric/Little Wood Builders 23, Power Engineers 4 (5 innings)

Little Wood put together 8-run outbursts twice to win going away. Little Wood: T.J. Peterson 4 hits (2 triples) and 4 runs, Tina Murphy 3 hits (double) and 2 runs, Greg Edwards 3 hits (triple) and 3 runs, Anna Edwards 3 hits (triple). Power Engineers: Jason Marenda 3 hits (double).

LDE Electric/Little Wood Builders 11, Hailey Hotel 0

Always a big offensive threat, Little Wood brought out its gloves and held Hotel to 4 hits, 2 by Nic Thomas. Sean Harrington cranked out a pair of two-out solo HRs, Anna Edwards had 3 hits and Buddy Peterson (double) added 3 hits for the winners and eventual champions.

Wicked Spud/Bradley Const. 18, Cowboy Cochina/Wise Guy Pizza 11

Spud was relentless, answering Wise Guy's 4-run first with 7 runs of their own in the home half and adding 4 more runs in the third for an 11-5 lead. Wise Guy made it close with a 3-run sixth cutting its deficit to 13-11, but Spud came right back with 5 runs in the home half. Spud: Dani Stone 2 hits and 3 runs, Jeff Burrell 2-run HR, Jamie Stone 2 hits and 2 runs, Josh Jacobson 2 doubles. Wise Guy: Kenny Nelson 4 hits (HR, 2 doubles) and 4 runs, Brenda Blackwell 3 hits and 2 runs, Justin Herald 3 hits, Milton Brooks 2 hits (double).

Wicked Spud/Bradley Const. 10, LDE Electric/Little Wood Builders 4

Spud ended Little Wood's 16-game winning streak by keeping the LDE bats in check, allowing solo HRs by T.J. Peterson and Sean Harrington but not much else. Spud did most of its damage with a 6-run fifth, extending its 3-2 lead. Spud: Morgan Uhrig 3 hits (triple, double), Jimmy Bradley 2 hits (double), Jeff Burrell 2 hits (HR), Josh Jacobson double and HR, Jimberly Rooney 2 hits and 2 runs.

LOSER BRACKET GAMES

Peterson Dist./Tidwell Const. 14, Infininaut 9

Peterson/Tidwell found itself in a 6-2 hole after three innings and 7-3 after four, but stayed alive with a 5-run sixth and 4-run seventh on clutch HRs by Mark Mary (3 hits, 4 runs) and Tom Anderson. Tidwell: Tracy Peterson 2 triples, double and 3 runs, Jim Carlson 3 hits (double) and 2 runs, Lacey Peterson 3 hits (double) and 2 runs. Infininaut: Brian Thompson, Sue Weller, Jeff Jones and Rich Lang (double) 2 hits apiece.

Smith Optics/Poggi Bros. Electric 14, Power Engineers 10

Power made a good bid for only its second win of the season, building a 7-5 lead after three innings. But Smith sent 11 batters to the plate in a 6-run fifth and held on to advance. Smith/Poggi: Samantha Sisiam double and 3 runs, Mike Beall 4 hits (HR) and 3 runs, Jeff Poggi 3 hits, Lukus Sisiam 2 doubles, Ryan Wilson 2 hits (double) and 2 runs. Power: Ryan Laughy 4 hits and 2 runs, Dustin Feigt 2 hits (double) and 2 runs, Jason Marenda and Donavon Romrell 2 hits.

Hailey Hotel 10, Smith Optics/Poggi Bros. Electric 4

Leadoff hitter Riley O'Grady (3 doubles, 2 runs) sparked the Hotel attack. Smith/Poggi: Kim Meyers 2 hits (double), Jeff Poggi and Rose Schwarzbach 2 hits apiece, Logan Ivie 2 hits and 2 runs.

Peterson Dist./Tidwell Const. 5, Cowboy Cochina/Wise Guy Pizza 4

Peterson/Tidwell reversed the outcome of an opening-round tournament loss on a solo HR by Tom Anderson (2 hits, 2 runs) in the fifth. Peterson/Tidwell: Tracy Peterson 2 doubles and 2 runs, Patrick Peterson triple. Wise Guy: Justin Herald 2 hits (HR).

Hailey Hotel 13, Peterson Dist./Tidwell Const. 9

Trailing 6-3 after three frames, Hotel ended Peterson/Tidwell's Cinderella run with a 10-3 advantage in the final four innings. Hotel: Riley O'Grady 4 hits and 2 runs, Kellen Chatterton 3 hits, Brandy O'Grady 2 hits and 2 runs, Lesley Sliman 3 runs. Peterson/Tidwell: Tom Anderson 2 hits (HR) and 2 runs, Mark Mary 3 hits (triple, double), Tracy Peterson 3 hits.

LDE Electric/Little Wood Builders 19, Hailey Hotel 2 (6 innings)

Little Wood made short work of Hotel and set up its rematch with Wicked Spud. Little Wood: Sean Harrington 3 hits (double, HR) and 3 runs, Fish 4 hits (double) and 2 runs, Tina Murphy 3 hits, Buddy Peterson 3 hits (2 doubles), Bobbi Edwards 2 hits.

CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES

LDE Electric/Little Wood Builders 7, Wicked Spud/Bradley Const. 0

Little Wood made sure of an extra game, holding Spud to 7 hits in the rare slow-pitch shutout. LDE Electric: Buddy Peterson 2 runs, Sean Harrington double, T.J. Peterson triple.

LDE Electric/Little Wood Builders 13, Wicked Spud/Bradley Const. 12

The championship game was all it was cracked up to be. It went down to the final batter, Little Wood rallying from a 12-10 deficit in the home half of the seventh on a game-winning double by Most Valuable Player Sean Harrington. The epic back-and-forth duel featured a little bit of everything. A 2-run HR by Josh Jacobson put Spud ahead 2-1 in the second, but T.J. Peterson led off with a solo HR and Little Wood used a 3-run second to pull ahead 4-2. Leap-frogging ahead 6-4 with a 4-run third was Spud, and Jeff Burrell's 2-run HR gave Spud an 8-5 lead in the visitor fifth. Singles by Jamie Ulrich, Hoss Schmidt, Bobbi Edwards and Lisa Vadalma enabled Little Wood to cut the lead to 8-7 in the home fifth. Then another Jacobson HR put Spud ahead 9-7 in the sixth. For Little Wood, T.J. Peterson's RBI triple sparked a 3-run sixth giving the eventual winners a slim 10-9 lead. But Spud answered with 3 runs on their own in the visitor seventh. Anthony Rooney opened with a single, then Morgan Uhrig (2 hits, 2 runs) and Jamie Stone drilled one-out doubles and Dani Stone added a single. Down to its final three outs, Little Wood capitalized on 2 walks, an error, a single by Greg Edwards (2 runs) and Harrington's walk-off double to nail down the championship.

SPECIAL AWARDS—Most Valuable Players—Anna Edwards and Sean Harrington from LDE Electric/Little Wood Builders. Edwards batted .600 (12-for-20) with 2 triples, double and 5 runs scored. Harrington hit .578 (11-for-19) with 5 doubles, 4 HR and 9 runs scored.
