A Close Call, And A Good Landing

Express photo by Willy Cook
Firefighters from several area emergency agencies surrounded a small private plane after it landed safely Friday afternoon at Friedman Memorial Airport. The incident began as an emergency when the pilot reported engine problems. Traffic operations at the airport were suspended for about a half hour, according to Friedman operations manager Pete Kramer, while rescue and fire units from the airport, the cities of Hailey and Bellevue and Wood River Fire & Rescue converged on the aircraft, which Kramer said he believes originated its flight in northern Idaho. Kramer said the pilot and two passengers were safe. He said the aircraft's engine probably will need some repair work.
