My fourth great-grandfather, who served as a Minuteman at the Battle of Lexington on April 19, 1775, must have been pretty restless and confused in his grave on the Fourth of July as the air in Hailey was filled with overly loud and totally inappropriate Mexican music.
In their attempt to contribute to the festive atmosphere, the owners of the Mexican restaurants on Main Street were totally misguided and off base. Hopefully, before the next Fourth of July and in the future, they will realize the error of their ways and perhaps, with a nudge from the Hailey Parade Committee, not repeat this error in judgment as we celebrate the gaining of our American independence and freedom.
It would be nice to hear "America the Beautiful" or "God Bless America."
