In 1981 Jane Drussel opened a small stationery and office supply store below Atkinsons' Market in Giaccobi Square in Ketchum. Within a few years she and her husband, Kenny, had expanded to a 12,000-square-foot shop on two floors offering everything from paper clips and greeting cards to oil paints and office furniture.

Drussel opened another Jane's on Main Street in Hailey in 1990 and then sold both stores to Doug and Robin Brown in 2004. For the last five years, she has been working as a sales representative in four Western states.

Due to a faltering economy, the Hailey Jane's store closed in January and the Ketchum location closed two weeks ago.

But Jane's is back. On Aug. 1, Drussel will re-open at the building she owns at 106 S. Main St. in Hailey.

"We are going back to scratch," Drussel said. "We were unable to find someone to lease the building and had so many people asking us to bring the store back, we decided to do it ourselves."

Like the first Jane's, which opened 27 years ago, the store will offer arts and crafts supplies, party goods and office and school supplies.

"We have a strong feeling that Hailey will be the shopping center for Blaine County," Drussel said.
