A Salt Lake City man crashed a 2008 Audi TT Roadster early Saturday evening after he failed to negotiate a sharp curve on Buttercup Road north of Hailey.

The Blaine County Sheriff's Office reported Monday that the vehicle was traveling 55 to 60 miles per hour as it reached the curve just east of the road's intersection with state Highway 75. The Audi didn't make the curve and instead went straight. The posted speed on the road is 35 mph.

The accident occurred shortly after 8 p.m.

The driver, identified as 57-year-old Richard Niece, was transported in stable condition to St. Luke's Wood River Medical Center.

Sheriff's Capt. Ed Fuller said Niece was given a blood-alcohol test at the hospital and was issued a citation alleging driving under the influence.

A damage estimate was not available on the Roadster.
