Lights out for unlucky squirrel

Causes outage in Warm Springs neighborhood

A tragically curious squirrel caused a power outage in the Warm Springs neighborhood of Ketchum on Friday evening.

Idaho Power spokesman Russ Jones said that 134 customers lost electricity at 8:09 p.m. after a squirrel got mixed up with some of the company's equipment, possibly a transformer.

"A squirrel got into a place it shouldn't have and it paid the price," he said.

Jones said power was restored to 52 customers around 8:20 p.m. and to the remainder at 11:50 p.m.
