The Sun Valley Pavilion has been busy with a variety of entertainment for its first full summer season. Sun Valley Resort will continue its schedule of world-class entertainers on Friday, July 17, with Barrage, an eclectic and talented group of musicians, singers, dancers and all-around entertainers from Calgary, Canada.

Barrage is a combination of six violinists and vocalists, a drummer, a bass player and a guitarist. The group has been in existence for more than a decade, touring the world and performing at festivals, for presidents, prime ministers and royalty.

The group's traveling show is called "High Strung." It features a diverse fusion of cultures and musical styles. Barrage is known to combine contemporary world music influences with layered vocal arrangements and pulsating modern beats and rhythms. The complexity of music and high-energy performance make for a dynamic live experience.

The Chicago Sun Times wrote about Barrage that "it is impossible to argue with the charm and brilliance of this attractive, multi-talented group of 12 musical performers who seem capable of playing anything with astonishing ease and without ever being chained to a music stand. Perpetual music-making and dueling fiddles are paired with ceaseless motion. It has all the irresistible energy of twenty-something youthfulness."

Barrage has several television productions aired on international television networks including PBS in the U.S., the BBC in the United Kingdom and CBC in Canada. The group has performed live shows in New Zealand, Singapore, Guatemala, Taiwan, China, Canada, Finland, Sweden, Ireland, Denmark, Poland, Germany, Norway, Monaco, the U.S. and the United Kingdom.

Tickets for Barrage are $20, $32 and $40. Call the Sun Valley Recreation office at 622-2135 or visit sunvalleypavilion.com. Bring a G. Love & Special Sauce concert ticket or ticket stub to the box office and receive a $5 discount on a Barrage ticket.
