Track athletes gear up for summer camp

Event set for July 21-22 in Meridian

Track and field coach and Boise State University legend Ed Jacoby is launching the first "Track-n-Field of Dreams" camp Tuesday and Wednesday, July 21-22, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day at Mountain View High School in Meridian.

Jacoby will lead a "Who's Who" of nationally-recognized track and field coaches during the two-day camp for boys and girls in grades 6-12.

The camp will begin with staff introductions. Special guest speakers will offer tips on nutrition, scholarships, conditioning, physical therapy and sports psychology.

Instructors include Jake Jacoby, Troy Kemp and Linda Lanker. They will provide "hands on" training for local youth in jumps, pole vault, throws, sprints and hurdles, and mid-long distance. Treasure Valley high school coaches will also attend and coach.

There are limited spaces available for the camp. Visit tracknfieldofdreams.com or call (208) 376-2610. Check-in each day begins at 9:30 a.m.
