A 67-year-old Sun Valley woman was flown by emergency helicopter to a Boise hospital after being injured in a bicycle accident last week in Sun Valley.

Police identified the woman as Janet Young. Her condition was not available Tuesday from Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center.

Sun Valley Assistant Police Chief Mike Crawford said the accident occurred around 2 p.m. Thursday on the bike path on Sun Valley Road just south of its intersection with Dollar Road. Crawford said Young suffered "head trauma."

"It looks like she was by herself and went over her handlebars and hit her head on the pavement," Crawford said.

The cause of the accident was unknown Tuesday. There were no witnesses and Crawford said the woman was found unconscious by other bicyclists, who notified authorities.

He said Young was initially transported by Ketchum Fire Department ambulance to St. Luke's Wood River Medical Center and later flown by Life Flight helicopter to Saint Alphonsus.
