Gloria J. Weller

Gloria J. Weller passed away after a brief illness on June 29, 2009, at her daughter's home in Hailey, Idaho. She was 88.

Gloria was born in Ridgefield Park, N.J. on March 19, 1921. She moved with her family to San Diego, Calif., as a young woman in 1948. In San Diego she soon married, raised two daughters and enjoyed various forms of employment, volunteering assignments and hobbies. Gloria was actively involved in yachting, and belonged to both the San Diego and Catalina Island yacht clubs, and to the Marlin Sportsfishing Club. Gloria later branched out into the business world, owning and managing All the World travel agencies in San Diego and Borrego Springs, Calif. She loved organizing and leading tour groups to many destinations worldwide.

In 1991 Gloria relocated to Henderson, Nev., where she worked for the Del Webb Corp. for 10 years. She loved the desert lifestyle, which always included golfing, bocce ball and her hobby of oil painting.

Gloria returned to San Diego briefly in 2005 before moving to Hailey in late 2007 to live with her daughter, Anne. She often remarked how much she loved Hailey's small-town friendliness, and that it reminded her of her birthplace, Ridgefield Park.

Gloria is survived by her two daughters, Anne Dressell (Rick) of Hailey and Michele Voss (Dallas) of San Diego, Calif.; and four grandchildren, Chelsea Dressell of Boise, Idaho, and Kevin, Pamela and Jason Voss of San Diego.

A celebration of Gloria's life will be held in San Diego at a later date.
