The Sawtooth Century Bicycle Tour returns to Ketchum and Sun Valley on Saturday, Aug. 15. It is produced by the Blaine County Recreation District, with the generous support of local sponsors.
The BCRD Sawtooth Century is a fully supported one-day tour offering both half and full century (50 and 100 mile) routes and the return of the popular "King & Queen of the Mountain" competition.
Both ride routes start in downtown Ketchum and pass through Elkhorn and Sun Valley before heading north.
Half-century (50 mile) riders will proceed to the turn-around at historic Galena Lodge.
Full-century riders will continue up and over Galena summit en route to the turn-around at Alturas Lake.
The King & Queen of the Mountain competition will recognize the fastest male and female riders on the six-mile climb up the south side of Galena Summit. Electronic timing by Powerhouse will be supplied at no extra charge for all ride participants. Names of the King & Queen winners will be put on a perpetual trophy to remain on display at Galena Lodge.
A portion of the proceeds from the BCRD Sawtooth Century Tour go to the Galena Summer Trails Plan as well as the Davis Phinney Foundation.
Entry for the Sawtooth Century is $75 for full century riders and $65 for half-century riders until Friday, Aug. 14. Cyclists receive a $10 discount if registered by July 17.
The entry fee includes commemorative cycling socks and cap and full aid station support. Registration is online at new.sportsbaseonline.com.
