Ultimate Frisbee organizers have just about finished the hard part—organizing the summer league—and now the fun part is about to begin.
And that's playing the game.
Summer league play is due to begin Thursday, July 9 at Ketchum's Atkinson Park.
Organizer Scott Runkel said, "We'll have an organizational meeting followed by pick-up Ultimate. It's really important that you make it out Thursday at 7 p.m. on the upper Atkinson Park field. The first official league games will be played the following week. Teams will have a few days to add additional players to round out squads before the first game."
The $35 league fee is due on Thursday, Runkel added. The student rate is $20. Fees increase by $5 if they are paid after Thursday. He said, "The money gets you a t-shirt and allows us to pay the city of Ketchum for the fields.
"Over the next week, we need to set the game schedule. There was a thought to play some games on Mondays to avoid conflicts with the Elkhorn concert series. Wes (Southward) will decide, based on your feedback, whether we start league on Monday, July 13 or Thursday, July 16."
