A 48-year-old Ketchum man was in critical condition Tuesday at Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise with head and facial injuries following a rush-hour traffic collision Friday afternoon south of Ketchum.

Ismael Salazar was a passenger in an Isuzu truck, owned by Big Wood Landscape, that was involved in a three-vehicle accident shortly before 5 p.m. on state Highway 75 at its intersection with Hospital Drive. Salazar was initially transported to St. Luke's Wood River Medical Center but was flown by emergency helicopter to Boise around 1 a.m. Saturday.

The Blaine County Sheriff's Office reported that the white Isuzu truck was driven by Javier Lopez-Olivio, a 62-year-old Ketchum man who suffered a broken leg in the accident and was transported by Ketchum Fire Department ambulance to St. Luke's.

Sheriff's Lt. Jay Davis said the Big Wood truck collided with a 1997 Plymouth Voyager minivan driven by Yvonne Parrish-Levin, 44, of Sun Valley. The truck then hit a cargo trailer pulled by David Rossner, 53, of Ketchum.

Davis said witnesses reported that the Big Wood truck was southbound on the highway when the Parrish-Levin vehicle pulled from Hospital Drive without yielding to a red light. Davis said Parrish-Levin was issued a citation alleging "failure to observe and obey a traffic control device."

Davis said no one else was seriously injured in the accident. The sheriff's office report did not state whether the people involved were wearing seatbelts.
