Bronze to Fostvedt in Portland’s all-out shred

Rail jam on hot day pleases crowd

Organizers trucked in tons of snow from the Oregon mountains to Portland's Pioneer Square for the May 30 finals of the Cricket Campus Rail Jam Tour. And Ketchum was well-represented on the podium.

Karl Fostvedt, 19, a Ketchum native and 2008 Wood River High School graduate, finished third in the men's division. He won some cash and skis in the $6,000 contest that featured 60 of the West's top college-aged rippers.

The all-out shred celebration was staged in 90-degree heat in front of a jazzed-up crowd and many qualifiers for the "Worst Tattoo Contest." Entertaining on the mic was Todd Richards.

Placing first among the men thrashers in the final stop of the 10-event Campus Rail Jam spring tour was Collin Wright ($1,435) and second was Mcrae Williams. The top two women were Catherine Warchall and Lena Decrescenzo.
