Ivor Charles Palmer


Ivor Charles Palmer, born Dec. 3, 1921, in Cardiff, South Wales, UK, died June 19, 2009, at age 88 of cardiac arrest while visiting his sister in Illinois.

Ivor was married in Cardiff on April 17, 1943, and was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Esther Emily Palmer. He served in the British Royal Air Force from 1940-1946 as an electrician in Britain and Canada. Ivor left for America and the promise of a better life and worked in Alaska until he earned enough to send for his wife and son. They met in Canada and immigrated to the United States together in 1954. They lived in Southern California and he worked as an electrician for Flying Tigers/Federal Express until his retirement in 1978, when they relocated to Idaho to live near their son and grandchildren.

Ivor is survived by his sister, Elsie of Illinois; his son, David, of Hailey; three grandchildren, Emmily of Boise, Daniel of McCall and Thomas of Bellevue; and three great-grandchildren, Macy, Charlie and Alisa.

Private services will be held by the family.
