Although summer began June 21, in Ketchum summer does not truly start until Ketch'em Alive begins. The free summer concert series will take place on Tuesday nights from 7-9 p.m. beginning on June 30 and ending Aug. 25.

The concert series, celebrating its 10th year, will kick off the 2009 summer with Culver City Dub Collective from Southern California, which plays a mix of reggae and Caribbean music. The band's most recent CD features guest appearances by Jack Johnson and Ben Harper. The band also features a distinct collection of dynamic original songs that are tributes to the legends of Jamaican and Brazilian music.

Culver City Dub Collective is touring in support of its debut full-length album, "Dos." The band includes drummer and songwriter Adam Topol, guitarist and producer Franchot Tone, keyboardist and vocalist Chris Joyner, horn player David Ralicke and bassist and vocalist Jose Esquivel.

"The music is as good or better than ever," said Ketch'em Alive organizer Will Caldwell. "We endured a wet and chilly June and when Ketch'em Alive starts the real summer kicks in, and this year is no exception."

Opening for Culver City Dub Collective will be the talented kids from the Music 'n' Me school in Hailey at 7 p.m. Picnics are welcome and drinks will be sold in the park.

Ketch'em Alive is made possible by event sponsors including US Bank, the Sun Valley-Ketchum Chamber & Visitors Bureau, Atkinsons', the Sawtooth Club, the Roosevelt Grille, Barry Peterson Jewelers and High Country Properties. In addition, many donations to support Ketch'em Alive came from the Ketch'em Alive Fan Club.
