State Hershey track Saturday in Rexburg

Blaine County kids will travel

The 2009 Hershey State track and field meet will be held Saturday, June 20, at Madison High School in Rexburg at 9:15 a.m.

Check-in for the meet is between 8-8:45 a.m., with opening ceremonies at 8:55 a.m., according to meet officials.

The meet is open to kids ages 9-14 who finished first or second in their events at the local Hershey track meet sponsored by the Blaine County Recreation District during May in Hailey and Carey.

Winners at the state level Saturday can be a part of the regional team that travels to Hershey, Pa., to compete in the North American Final Meet Aug. 1. Their times and distances will be compared with other regional winners, and those who qualify for the North American will be notified by phone in the middle of July.

Events at Rexburg include the 50-, 100-, 200- and 400-meter dashes, 800m and 1600m runs, 4x100m relay, standing long jump and softball throw.
