Sarah Lucie

Sarah Jessica Lucie, daughter of Lisa-Marie Allen and Peter Hendricks of Sun Valley, graduated magna cum laude from Boston College in Chestnut Hill, Mass., May 18.

She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with a double major in Theatre Studies and English, and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, the most prestigious academic honor society in the nation, in recognition of high attainments in scholarship.

While attending Boston College, she participated in many theatrical productions, including "Sweet Charity," "Stage Door," "Pirates of Penzance" and "Angels in America." Sarah was a member of the Boston College University Chorale for four years and performed in many European cities, notably Rome, Prague and Vienna, as well as performances with the Boston Pops Orchestra conducted by John Williams and Keith Lockhart.

She also wrote and directed an original one-act play, "Howard be Thy Name," produced by the university under its New Voices program.

Sarah is currently working with Ketchum's St. Thomas Playhouse Company B, as she did last year, before she relocates to New York in the fall.

Marilyn Nesbit has become the first American Contract Bridge League gold life master in the Wood River Valley. The rank requires 2,500 master points, more than eight times as many as it takes to become a life master, described by the national association as "the most highly sought-after level of bridge achievement."

She achieved her final points in tournaments in Gatlinburg, Tenn., and Boise, as well as online bridge tournaments at Bridge Base Online.

Nesbit has been a director and teacher at the Bridge Club of the Wood River. She has played social bridge for years, and began playing in competitive games sanctioned by the national organization in 1996. She lives in Ketchum.

Wood River High School graduate Danielle Smith of Sun Valley earned Dean's List recognition for the 2009 spring semester at the University of Vermont in Burlington.

Gonzaga University in Spokane, Wash., marked its 116th undergraduate commencement May 10 with 1,072 undergraduates receiving degrees.

Jonathan Dittmer of Hailey received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. He was also one of 683 students named to the Dean's List for the 2009 spring semester at Gonzaga.

Also at Gonzaga, senior Kenneth Mauro of Hailey was among 942 undergraduates named to the President's List (3.7 GPA or better) for the spring semester.

Michael C. Smith, who is employed by the Ruscitto, Latham & Blanton architecture firm in Ketchum, graduated from the University of Idaho May 16 with a Master's in Architecture. He also made the Dean's List for the 2009 spring semester.
