Inaugural Town to Summit race June 21

Cycling challenge features 12.4-mile course

It's up to you—cross bike, road bike or mountain bike—but the inaugural Town to Summit Hill Climb on Father's Day, Sunday, June 21, will spend a good part of its 12.4-mile length on dirt, Euro style.

Organizer Sean McLaughlin this week announced details of the Father's Day bicycle race from downtown Ketchum to Trail Creek Summit east of Sun Valley. The course has 2,100 feet vertical and finishes on the hilltop (no racing down).

All ability levels are welcome and encouraged to ride.

Bicyclists will get off the mark with a neutral rolling mass start at 9 a.m. in front of The Elephant's Perch on East Avenue and be led out of town by a Sun Valley fire engine until arriving at the Sun Valley Club.

Then it's "game on" to the top of Trail Creek Road.

Categories are Open Male, Open Female, Junior (U-18) Male and Female. The $25 entry fee includes a one-day USA Cycling license. If you already have a license, the cost is $15. Register at the Perch anytime before June 21 at 8:30 a.m.

The raffle drawing for all racers will begin at 1 p.m. at Ketchum Town Plaza Park across from Giacobbi Square. Call The Elephant's Perch 726-3497 for more information.
