POWER listed in top engineers list

Hailey-based Power Engineers was recently ranked 70th on the Engineering News-Record Top 500 Design Firms list. The company moved up nine places from last year's placement.

Power's 23 percent increase in revenue over the previous year was the reason.

Engineering News-Record bases its ranking on market revenue data provided by participating firms.

"We've been successful maintaining diversity in our markets and retaining the best talent available," said Power Engineers President Jack Hand.

AmeriTitle ranked in Idaho's Best Companies

AmeriTitle was named one of Idaho's Best Companies to Work For in 2009.

The title company scored 10th among small companies with 100 or fewer employees in Idaho. The ranking was determined by a survey sponsored by Idaho Business Review magazine and conducted by Populus, an independent marketing research company, to identify those companies in Idaho with the best practices in employee attraction and retention.

AmeriTitle has 10 offices in Idaho, including one in Ketchum. The 24-year-old company is one of the largest independent title agents in the nation and began operating in Idaho in 2000. Today AmeriTitle has about 77 employees around the state.

"While AmeriTitle is a great company to work for, it is our dedicated employees that make the difference," said Jack Thomas, AmeriTitle vice president for Idaho.

AmeriTitle in Ketchum is managed by Holden Morgan and has seven employees to service Blaine County.

Hailey nurse honored during National Nurses' Week

Suzanne Miller of Hailey was recently awarded the 2009 Carl A. Gray Memorial Award for Nursing Excellence during National Nurses' Week.

Miller works as education program coordinator in St. Luke's Wood River Medical Center's Clinical Education Department and as a nurse in the Medical Surgical Unit. She was recognized for her push to improve nursing practices.

Each year, the entire hospital staff nominates a nurse who exemplifies excellence; the nursing staff then votes on the colleague they believe is most deserving. The award was founded by the Gray family to honor Carl Gray, an avid Sun Valley Ski Club member.

New loans available via SBA program

Small businesses suffering financial hardship as a result of the slow economy may be eligible to receive temporary relief from a new loan program announced recently by the federal Small Business Administration.

Beginning on June 15, SBA will start guaranteeing America's Recovery Capital loans. The loans are deferred-payment loans of up to $35,000 available to established, viable, for-profit small businesses that need short-term help to make their principal and interest payments on existing qualifying debt. The loans are interest free to the borrower, 100 percent guaranteed by the SBA, and have no SBA fees associated with them.

America's Recovery Capital loans will be disbursed within a period of up to six months and will provide funds to be used for payments of principal and interest for existing, qualifying small-business debt including mortgages, term and revolving lines of credit, capital leases, credit card obligations and notes payable to vendors, suppliers and utilities. Repayment will not begin until one year after the final disbursement. Borrowers don't have to pay interest on the loans. After the one-year deferral period, borrowers will pay back the loan principal over a period of five years.

The loans will be made by commercial lenders, not by SBA directly.
