The Sun Valley Pavilion will present an acoustic weekend of music on Friday, June 5, and Saturday, June 6, with six bands throughout the weekend. Friday's lineup includes the return of Emiko at 4 p.m.—who played the Boiler Room in Sun Valley for the Special Olympics—Colors at 6 p.m. and The Duhks at 8 p.m. On Saturday, Rebecca Scott will perform at 4 p.m., followed by the Marcus Eaton Trio at 6 p.m. and the evening will end with headliner act Keb' Mo' at 8 p.m.

Friday evening's headline performers, The Duhks, are looking forward to making their first appearance in Sun Valley.

"Sun Valley will be our first show of a three-month tour," said the band's lead singer Sarah Dugas. "We will perform songs mostly from our new CD as well as some sentimental songs."

Dugas said The Duhks have created their own sound that is a mixture of everything from Cajun to jazz to rock and world music, plus much more.

The Canadian band is mostly rooted in Winnipeg with some members from British Columbia. Dugas and her brother are newer members to the band and have a long family history of performing together.

"The band has been together for seven years," Dugas said. "There was change two years ago where I replaced the original singer and my brother came in a year and a half ago and replaced the drummer."

Dugas said her parents were very musical. Her father became a music engineer and producer and The Duhks recorded their first album at his studio. The band members have an eclectic background in music, including Celtic influences.

"It is an interesting thing to look at the band," Dugas said. "The audience sees a banjo, fiddle and an acoustic guitar, but you don't expect the sound that comes out. It is an interesting thing, and we have taken it to a new level with the addition of a drum kit."

The Duhks have been asked to take part in a Greenwich Village tribute compilation CD to the 60s, which they are working on. In addition, they are thinking about songs for a new CD.

Tickets for the weekend for premium seating are $150 for both nights or $85 for one night. General admission prices include $80 for both nights or $50 for one night. For tickets and details, call 622-2135 or visit sunvalleypavilion.com.
