Hibler is Valley Club match play winner

48 golfers in IGA tourney


Meridian's Jesse Hibler scored a 2 & 1 victory over Chris Reinke of Ashton in Sunday's men's championship of the Idaho Golf Association's Match Play Invitational tournament at The Valley Club.

In all, 48 men, women and senior players competed on the mid-county course in the second of 14 IGA tourneys in 2009.

Men's semi-final results had Hibler 1-up over Mark Dance of Idaho Falls and Reinke 4 & 2 over Bob Wheeler of Boise.

Besides those "Final Four" golfers in the 31-golfer men's field, the quarterfinalists were Mike DeBoard of Boise, Dan Pickens of Pocatello, Eric Peterson of Nampa and Shane Newcomb of Boise.

Carissa Simmons of Boise won the eight-golfer IGA Ladies Flight at The Valley Club 1-up over Allison Travis of Eagle. In semis, it was Simmons 5 & 4 over Cali Hipp of Middleton, and Travis 2 & 1 over Abby McNeley of Twin Falls.

Paul Lodge of Boise was the IGA Senior Men's winner 1-up over Norris Dancer of Star. In the semi-finals of the eight-player field, Lodge defeated Weiser's Joe Malay 5 & 4, and Dancer got past Sam Williams of Sun Valley 2 & 1.

Next tournament at The Valley Club is the President's Cup 36-hole stroke play meet Friday and Saturday, June 12-13.
