Burton tops pros in SV/Elkhorn Pro-Am

Rocky Mountain Section PGA meet

Third-year Boise State University golf coach Kevin Burton won the Professional Division of the Elkhorn Golf Club/Sun Valley Resort Pro-Am golf tournament May 26-27.

Burton's 36-hole total of 138 was six strokes better than John Graham from Sand Creek in Idaho Falls and another Idaho Falls product, Adam Martens. Burton also led the winning Pro-Am team featuring local golfer Noah Loyd.

Boise native Burton, one of the Treasure Valley's most accomplished golfers, previously served as a teaching professional at the BanBury Golf Course in Eagle. He has also spent time as the Head Professional at Pierce Park Greens in Boise and at Redhawk Golf Club in Temecula, Calif.

As a touring professional, Burton played on the PGA Tour during the 1997 season. He has also played on the Australian PGA Tour (1988-90) and the Nike Tour (1996, 2001). He earned Rocky Mountain Section Player of the Year honors from 2002-2004 and 2006. He won the Idaho Open in 1999, 2002 and 2003, and the California State Open in 1995. Burton finished second in the 1995 Albertson's Boise Nike Open.
