Friday evenings at the Wicked Spud in Hailey will have a little more excitement this summer, with live acoustic music, open mics and performances by kids' rock 'n' roll bands. Voci Ingenium, which means talented voices, is a new Friday night program that plans to tap into the talented community of the Wood River Valley.

"We want to stimulate the economy and be more celebratory as a community," said Mitzi Mecham, the owner of Notes Music Store and Music N' Me music academy. "Friday nights are a hit and miss, but we have seen some great crowds for Dr. Tom Archie's open mics this year and know there is a lot of hidden talent in the community."

Mecham said one Friday a month will be devoted to an open mic that will include a lyric slam and conclude with a writing contest and rap-off in August. Open mic sign-ups will be available until 5 p.m. on the Thursday before the show.

The last Friday of the month will include performances from the Music N' Me rock 'n' roll camp.
