Match play comes to The Valley Club

IGA tourney starts this morning

Match play is the game today, Friday, May 29, when The Valley Club stages the Idaho Golf Association's Match Play Invitational tournament for 48 men, women and senior players on the mid-county golf course.

It's the second of 14 IGA tournaments this season, starting with the IGA Men's Four-Ball May 16 at Canyon Springs Golf Course in Twin Falls and ending with the IGA Tournament of Champions Sept. 26-27 at Sun Valley Resort.

Today's qualifying seeding round of the three-day tournament begins at 9 a.m. That leads to the first round of match play pairings at 1:30 p.m. It is a single elimination tournament, so the survivors of the afternoon rounds will advance into Saturday's 9 a.m. tee off.

Sunday's finalists for the 1:30 p.m. championship will have played 36 holes on each weekend day to settle the meet.
