Coach Brian Gallagher's SV5B swimmers competed May 15-17 at the 2009 Boise YMCA Spring Fling meet—the first Snake River Swimming long course meet of the season. Added competition from the Inland Empire, Montana, and Utah area teams bumped the field to over 450.
In her last Spring Fling meet, SV5B senior Racheal McGinnis grabbed gold in 50 fly, silver in 50 free and 50 back, and bronze in 100 free, 100 back and 200 IM.
Senior Megan Hayes placed third in 50 fly and 50 back, and fourth in 100 back. Senior Esther Williams, out most of the winter season with a broken rib, managed a best placing of 15th in the 200 free, shaving four seconds in the process.
The three girls were among the 15 graduating seniors honored at the Snake River Swimming event.
Teammate Forrest Davis, 14, snagged gold in three events, 100 back, 400 IM, and the 200 breast.
Other second-place finishes for SV5B included:
Taylor Coiner, 17, in 800 free and 50 breast; Kaedi Fry, 12, in 50 fly, 50 free, 100 breast and 50 back; Forrest Davis in 100 breast and 200 back; and Chrystal Tullis, 13, in 50 back.
Third-place finishes were: Michael Coiner, 17, in 800 free; Kaedi Fry in 100 free and 100 back; Elizabeth Fry, 14, in 100 breast; and Gene Fairbrother, 17, in 50 fly.

Placing second was the girls' 200 free relay with Hayes, Michael Coiner, Taylor Coiner and McGinnis. The girls' 200 medley finished third with Hayes, Elizabeth Fry, McGinnis and Michael Coiner.
