‘New and improved’ is the message at BCRD pool

Pool opens Saturday, free swimming Monday

Blaine County Aquatic Center director of aquatics Cameron Randolph said the county pool in Hailey is "new and improved" for the summer of 2009. The facility located across from the Community Campus has new additions, she said.

The pool opens for the summer Saturday, May 23, and offers its annual Free Open House swimming day on the Memorial Day holiday, Monday, May 25. Call 788-2144 for hours of operation and more details.

Randolph said the improvements, just completed by the staff of the BCRD with the help of the community, are designed to make the facility into a pool, park and playground.

Additions to the leisure area around the main pool include three new poolside gazebos and an eating and community meeting area where people can swim in the evening, bring food and barbecue outside. New, thatched umbrellas in this area make it more appealing for people to watch swim lessons, meet with friends and enjoy the outdoors, Randolph said.

Other changes include a new, picketed party area, a new toddler playground and a playhouse for children donated by The Advocates. Another major change is the new poolside basketball hoop to go along with the recent additions of a log roller and aquatic climbing wall.

The BCRD Aquatic Center opened registration for aquatics programs and season passes Monday, May 18. Day passes are $5 for adults ages 18-64, $4 for seniors 65-plus and youths ages 17 and under, and free for kids up to age 1. Family pass rates are $175 season, $63 monthly.
