Armed Forces Day Brings Awards

Ted Richards Jr., with the help of Connie Runyan, receives a certification of appreciation for his service in the armed forces from Lt. Col. Reginald Reeves, retired. Richards served in World War II as a tail gunner in the Army Air Corps and was awarded the Purple Heart. Also receiving awards on Armed Forces Day was Nancie J. Harris and Jeanette Powell. Harris served in the U.S. Marine Corps and was the first female to achieve the rank of master sergeant. Powell served in the Army and attained the rank of captain in four years. The three are residents of Blaine Manor.
