Gail Moreault Hunter

Gail Moreault Hunter, dearly beloved wife of Sam Hunter of New York City, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on May 1, 2009.  She is survived by her loving daughter, Stacey Matthews of Washington Depot, Conn., son-in-law Pels, and her precious grandsons, Brett and Carter, as well as her adoring daughter, Aimée Moreault, of Sun Valley, Idaho.

Born in California to the late Robert and Anne Marie Haniman, Gail grew up in La Jolla and attended school and college in the San Diego area. Her parents were founding members of La Jolla Country Club and The Outrigger Club of Honolulu, a favorite choice for family vacations. As a young person she started what would become a life of dedicated volunteering at local hospitals and many years of fundraising for worthy causes.

In early 70s Gail made her home Sun Valley after falling in love with its natural beauty and small town, yet sophisticated, atmosphere. She was known for her adventurous spirit and sportsmanship and loved traveling abroad.  Her large circle of friends were the happy recipients of her gracious entertaining and style. Maybe some still remember the famous local "Moreault Cup" ski races held every year or remember her as one of the Realtors with McCann Daech Fenton.

All through her life she was a person of exceptional beauty and kindness, always being "the best friend ever" to those lucky enough to be touched by her unconditional love. She loved taking time for photography, art, piano, entertaining and decorating.

Also surviving her are her sisters, Peggy Street of Boise, Idaho, and Laurel Finch of Palo Alto, Calif., many nieces and nephews, step-children and several step-grandchildren.

A gathering of family and friends will meet in Sun Valley on July 30 at 4:30 p.m. to celebrate and remember Gail's life. Her ashes will be scattered in the sunshine forever. You will be in our hearts always! Rest in peace.
