The Sun Valley Co. Web site has Tim Silva listed as the general manager of the resort, but his heavy lifting won't start until next week when he returns to town to take up his new position.

Silva attended a banquet last week at which resort owner Earl Holding and Wally Huffman, Silva's predecessor as general manager, were presented with lifetime achievement awards from the state for their contributions to tourism in Idaho.

According to Sun Valley Resort spokesman Jack Sibbach, Silva is out of town this week and slated to return on May 18.

Sun Valley Co. announced in March that Silva was hired to replace Huffman, who would, in turn, be promoted to a new position as director of resort development.

Silva has a long history in Sun Valley, having started out as a lift attendant in Warm Springs in 1976 and moving up to lift operations manager. He left the valley in 1992 to become the general manager of the Northstar at Tahoe ski resort, where he worked for the past 17 years.

"He hasn't officially started," Sibbach said. "When he does, there's not going to be a huge change or dramatic transition."

Sibbach said that Huffman, whose office will remain in Sun Valley, will continue to play an important role in the day-to-day operations of the resort as Silva gets settled into his new job.
